Fernside Achievement and Meeting a Legend!

Fernside Students have been representing the School at the North Canterbury Swimming Sports and the Canterbury Duathlon (IN THE MISERABLE WIND & RAIN!)

Congratulations to our 8 brave students who competed in the Duathlon at Ruapuna Raceway on Monday. They were well supported by their families and put in gutsy performances. They have even said they would do it again!
Ashton & Angus competed in the 12 boys, Cohan the 11s, Max, Josh & Kirtsy in the 10s and Mitchel & Daniel in the 9 boys.
Kirsty was placed 4th! (1 and 1/2 minutes behind the winner) and Ashton once again achieved a finish in the top 20 - 12th.

We were well represented by a focussed team at the North Canterbury Swimming Championships.
our 3 relay teams got the day off to a great start - 9yr olds - 2nd, 10s - 1st, 11s - 3rd
Top 3 individual placings:
Max 1st freestyle, Ruby 3rd free, Cohan 3rd backstroke, Rose 2nd breaststroke, Ed 3rd Breaststroke, Rosa 2nd breast

Upcoming events:
Canterbury Swimming Championships
and The Huxter Mountain Biking event.

This week I happened to walk past the legend that is Mahe Drysdale.
I just couldn't resist shaking his hand and thanking him for being the role model that he is and for all those wonderful Olympic and World Cup moments.
I admit to being star struck and was dwarfed by his physique! He is a seriously solid, tall and fit athlete. Thanks Mahe for being so gracious.
